Saturday we slept in a bit and then we decided to go out on an outing
and we rode the subway to Old Town. We
walked around, tried a few new foods, sat and interacted with some local folks,
and had a nice morning. I spoiled the
kids with lunch at McDonalds and then we went home and cleaned house!

Who knew KFC would have ice cream?! They have it every where here.
Over by the temple, there are lots of shops with gadgets for sale. There are lots of people too. We enjoyed looking through the shops and people watching for an hour or so. We even found Mickey Mouse!

The kids are popular! There's always someone that wants a picture with one of kids when we are out.

Ben wanted a lucky cat. Mom said he had to use his Chinese to get it.

We sat and watched this guy mold these ornaments. He had all kinds of different shapes with intricate details. It was amazing to see his talent!! Bethany and I were trying to figure out what they were made of. After awhile of watching, the guy told us that they were edible. So Bethany and I decided to try one. It wasn't that tasty but sure was fun to watch him make it for us!

Suzhou is famous for the silk embroideries. I found this small one today. Connie was negotiated with the lady and we got for less than 25 RMB (about $4).
Outside most of the jewelry stores, sits a man beating silver to a rhythm. The silver is beaten into a bracelet and they are pretty neat.

McDonalds!!!! It was a real treat for the kids to get to eat at McDonalds today. It was the first time I had seen an ice cube since we left America.

Bethany thought this was hilarious! She went into use the restroom at McDonalds and of course they are squatters! The funny part is the brand of the squatter is American Standard. Squatters are NOT American standards.

I enjoy walking the streets and taking in the sites. What I see, I'll probably only see once. Wish I had brought a video camera to capture it all. I try to put it to memory with every view I see. I wish I didn't take things for granite in life at home.
